Don Schleuning, 69, of Terrell, passed away on July 22, 2013. He was born on June 21, 1944 in Dodge City , Kansas to Eugene Vance Schleuning and Betty Faye (Lewis) Schleuning. He was a dedicated man to his country, his employer and mostly to his family. Don served his country in Vietnam where he earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He worked as a paint supervisor for Vistawall in Terrell for over 38 years and was married to his beloved wife, Karen for twelve years. Don loved to fish, hunt, watch his favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt, watch the Texas Rangers play baseball and also cherished the time spent enjoying Motocross with his son. Don is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to celebrate his life are wife, Karen Schleuning, daughter Michelle Schleuning of Carrollton , son Troy Schleuning of Rowlett, step daughter Haley Hollon of Terrell, brothers Bill Schleuning and wife Sylvia of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Larry Schleuning of Topeka, Kansas, and Rick Schleuning and wife Yi of Dodge City, Kansas; sisters Peggy Marshall and husband Rick of Minneola, Kansas, Sonja Barnes of Dodge City, Kansas, Bonnie Finney and husband Robert of Diamondville, Wyoming, and Jeanie Schaffer and husband Ronald of Dodge City, Kansas; and mother-in-law Alice Chitty of Myrtle Springs. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who will all miss him greatly. Family will receive visitors on Wed, July 24, from 6-8 pm at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Terrell. Celebration of life will be Thurs, July 25 at 10:30 am, also at the funeral home.
