Donald Earl McClure

Donald Earl McClure, 65, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Via Christi St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born on May 5, 1945 in Dodge City, the son of Charles E. and Edith Alene (Rector) McClure. 

He was raised on the family farm where he later raised three sons, who are proud to call him their Dad. Donald graduated from Dodge City High School. He married Joanie Schroeder on August 3, 1968 in Wright, Kansas. He was a foreman at High Plains Dressed Beef for many years. He also was a farmer and custom harvester for many years. Donald later owned Fred's Tavern. Next he served as District Manager for National Motor Club; and later as Vice President of Auto Club of America. Most recently, he was President of DCJ Enterprises, contracting for Fed Ex. He was very active in the community through coaching women's softball and youth basball. Don was a talented musician as an accomplished keyboardist, organist, and cellist.

Don is survived by his wife, Joanie McClure of Dodge City; three sons, Charles Garrett McClure of Los Angeles, California, Curtis James McClure of Dodge City, and Cullen Earl McClure and wife Danielle of Souix Falls, South Dakota; three brothers, Larry McClure of Tampa, Florida, Dale McClure of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Doyle McClure of Tampa, Florida. He is also survived by his four spoiled grandchildren, heh-heh-heh. 

Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 11:00 AM. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register book from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Friday, May 28, 2010, at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.
