Norman "Whitey" Norton

( March 10, 1945 - December 20, 2018 )

Dodge City - Norman "Whitey" Norton, 73, died December 20, 2018 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.  He was born on March 10, 1945 at Dodge City the son of Everett Harvey and Edna May (Dunn) Norton.  

He married Sandi Edger on February 14, 1998 in Dodge City, she survives. Whitey enjoyed fishing, collecting guns and knives and cooking for his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Howard Gotschall V.F.W. Post #1714, American Legion, Jedediah Smith Muzzleloaders, Lake Havasu Moose Lodge, and a proud member of the NRA.

He is survived by his wife Sandi of the home; two sons Greg Norton of Azusa, California; Scott Edger of Dodge City; one daughter Wendy Barnett and husband Jason of Dodge City; one sister Glenda Norton of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; one brother Earl Norton of Aurora, Missouri. He is also survived by his grandchildren Chelsea Edger, Ethan Edger, Abram Edger, Auston and Lauryn Barnett and great granddaughter Riann Edger.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Anna Holmes and a infant brother Everett Leroy Norton.

Graveside service with full military honors will be held at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery on Monday January  7, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Dusty Cookson presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
